(Minghui.org) It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that a 72-year-old retired worker in Luoyang City, Henan Province, was sentenced to 2.5 years in 2023 for her faith in Falun Gong.

Ms. Wang Qiaofang was arrested on April 23, 2023, after being reported by a college student for talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing information about the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. The police raided her home and submitted her case to the Jianxi District Procuratorate.

During Ms. Wang’s hearing in the Jianxi District Court on July 6, 2023, prosecutor Xu Lin cited the 249 pieces of evidence, including Falun Gong books, Minghui Weekly, and other materials confiscated from her home. He recommended a 2.5-year sentence, which presiding judge Cheng Deyuan approved and announced the verdict days later.

Ms. Wang is now serving time in the Henan Province Women’s Prison, also known as Xinxiang Women’s Prison. All Falun Gong practitioners are held in the Ninth Division. Guards order the inmates to monitor the practitioners and try to force them to write statements to renounce Falun Gong. The practitioners are deprived of sleep or held in isolation if they don’t comply. Some became disabled as a result of the torture and abuse.
