上次聊了一下登山家们都带什么装备去攀登，顺便也了解了一些登山的专业知识（上文链接）。接下来这两次我们会看一些俚语、习惯用语和单词。
小试牛刀
下面是影片《梅鲁峰》中三句台词，若是你，会怎么翻译？
1）We get the surf and turf.
问题：是我们得到了冲浪和草皮吗？
2）I’m in over my head.
问题：我是在自己的头顶上吗？
3）We’ve had a good run at it.
问题：是我们在那里跑得很愉快吗？

习惯用语
1、Surf and turf
Surf 是冲浪的意思，turf 是草皮的意思，但 surf and turf 放在一起就不是冲浪和草皮了，而是用冲浪指代海鲜，用草皮指代食草动物，即有海鲜和红肉（通常是牛排）的主菜。龙虾与菲力牛排是 surf and turf 经典搭配，而牛排馆菜单上常见的变化是把龙虾换成虾、鱿鱼或干贝，海鲜可蒸煮、烧烤，或裹粉油炸。Surf and turf 有时也称为 reef and beef。
2、Be messed up
迷惘的，困惑的
Jon: So Jimmy survived this thing that people don’t survive and he was really messed up. He was in a bad way psychologically and this makes you doubt your judgement about everything. He bailed from various commitments.
强：在这场一般人难以幸存的雪崩中，金国威活了下来，但他真的很困惑。他处于一种很糟糕的心理状态，让他怀疑自己对所有事物的判断力。他放弃了承诺要做的各种事。
3、Pull the cord
Cord 是绳子的意思，拉绳子做什么？其实是因为绳子的另一端往往连着开关，那麽拉绳子的引申意思就是打住、收手、放弃。
例句：
Jimmy: If we don’t get up around this big, steep headwall, we’re gonna pull the cord, but, uh, we got one last push tomorrow.
金国威：如果我们无法绕过这个又大又陡的突出岩壁，我们就得放弃了，不过，明天我们有最后一搏。
4、Have a good run
尽管结果不是最理想的，但尽了全力，这时就可以说 have a good run, 或 give it a good run。
例句：
Renan: I thought “Okay, it’s over. We’ve had a good run at it.”
瑞楠：我想，“好吧，结束了。我们尽力了。”
5、Over the head
在脑袋之上，就是超出了能力范围、无法应付的意思。
例句：
Renan: This is too much for me. I’m in over my head. And I’m glad to have the experience. But I’m also glad that we’re going down tomorrow.
瑞楠：这对我来说太过了。我有点应付不来。能有这次经历我很高兴，但也庆幸明天我们就要下山了。
Jon: Maybe that’s the way over the heads of most people, that kind of risk and that kind of expression of trust.
强：可能大多数人都无法理 解他们的决定，冒着那种程度的风险，用那种方式来表达信任。
6、Out of mind
失去理智、昏了头，通常表示某人行为异常或做出不明智的选择，还有心不在焉或不用考虑的意思。
例句：
Out of sight, out of mind.
眼不见，心不烦。
Jimmy: You know, when our friend heard about it, they were like… They thought we were completely out of our minds.
金国威：你知道，当我们的朋友听到这件事时，他们就像……他们觉得我们完全疯了。

1、Nexus
连接，联系，交汇点。
例句：
Jon: It’s the headwater of the Ganges river, one of the most sacred rivers on earth, the center of the universe. It’s this weird nexus, that sort of the point where heaven and earth and hell all come together.
强：这是恒河的源头，地球上最神圣的河流之一，宇宙的中心。它是一个奇特的枢纽，是天堂、人间与地狱的交汇点。
2、Nonchalant
轻描淡写，漫不经心。
例句：
she gave a nonchalant shrug.
她漫不经心地耸了耸肩。
Jimmy: Meru definitely had a reputation as it’s impossible to climb. And I also knew, just by the way that Conrad brought the trip up, it was very nonchalant, so… I think the more nonchalant Conrad is about suggesting a trip, the more worries you ought to be.
金国威：梅鲁峰确实有着难以攀登的名声。我也知道，从康拉德提出这次旅行的方式来看，他非常漫不经心，所以……我认为康拉德在建议旅行时越漫不经心，你就越应该担忧。
3、Admant
固执的；坚决的，坚定不移的，这个单词金国威前后用了两次。
例句：
Jimmy: I’m so adamant about only going on expeditions with people that I know and that I trust.
金国威：我非常坚持只与认识并信任的人一起去探险。
Jimmy: Conrad and I were gonna go back to Meru. But we still had to make a decision about Renan. And Renan was pretty adamant about going.
金国威：康拉德和我准备回到梅鲁峰。但我们还得决定是否带上瑞楠。而瑞楠非常坚持要同去。
4、Stoked
热烈的，振奋的。
例句：
Jimmy: I’m stoked. These are the first turns I’ve made with Jeremy and Xav. Bodes well.
金国威：我超兴奋。这是我第一次跟 Jeremy 和 Xav 一起滑雪。感觉是个好兆头。
5、Gibberish
莫名其妙的话，胡言乱语、杂乱无章的话。
例句：
Jimmy: He tried to say something to me, it was just complete gibberish.
金国威：他想跟我说些什么，但完全不知所云。
6、Momentum
动量，冲量，推动力，势头。
例句：
Renan: From somewhere, I started to feel this momentum and climbing started to feel good. I couldn’t believe I finished my lead. It was this huge breakthrough for me.
瑞楠：从某处开始，我感觉到一股势头，攀登开始感觉好起来。我不敢相信自己完成了领攀。这对我来说是一个巨大的突破。
