RFA is a private, nonprofit corporation that broadcasts news and information to listeners in Asian countries where full, accurate, and timely news reports are unavailable.
In 2011, Radio Free Asia celebrated its 15th Anniversary. On 12/17/2010 the Broadcasting Board of Governors passed the following resolution celebrating and commemorating RFA's 15 years of impact broadcasting.

Radio Free Asia is a private, nonprofit corporation. Broadcasting Board of Governors members Michael P. Meehan and Victor H. Ashe serve as the chair and vice-chair, respectively, of RFA’s corporate board.
All nine member of the BBG sit on Radio Free Asia’s corporate board. Michael Meehan serves as Chair and the Vice-Chair is Victor Ashe.
