Tehran Condemns Koran Burning By U.S. Clergyman

TEXT SIZE - +
Iran has denounced the April 28 burning of copies of the Koran by U.S. pastor Terry Jones in Florida.

A statement issued by Iran's Foreign Ministry on April 29 called the act "insulting and provocative" and urged the United States to apologize to the Muslim world.

Jones burned the Korans and a depiction of the Prophet Muhammad to protest the imprisonment in Iran of Christian pastor Youcef Nadarkhani.

Nadarkhani, 32, was arrested in 2009 and was sentenced to death for apostasy in connection with his conversion.

His death sentence was overturned by the Iranian Supreme Court in February.

The Pentagon had asked Jones to refrain from burning the Korans out of concern for the safety of NATO forces in Afghanistan.

The report says "----imprisonment in Iran of Christian pastor Youcef Nadarkhani.

Nadarkhani, 32, was arrested in 2009 and was sentenced to death for apostasy in connection with his conversion.

His death sentence was overturned by the Iranian Supreme Court in February...."

He changed from Islam to Christianity at the age of 19 years.

That is a matter of his faith . Islam does not compel any one to be a Muslim. The law about apostasy is like a mouse trap ; one can enter Islam , but no one can leave !!!

What is the logic in this, i fail to understand.

Can the Iranian authorities shed any theological light on this, please ?

Its against the UN convention on Human Rights.

"...The Pentagon had asked Jones to refrain from burning the Korans out of concern for the safety of NATO forces in Afghanistan..."

It gives an impression that the western ruling elites, including the Pentagon, are not genuinely interested in building and maintaining truly peaceful and cooperative relations with the Muslim world. The reason cited here is very self-servient and demonstrates their general lack of any respect and care.. Whether you like it or not, that's another Janus face of those so-called peace and democracy promoters...

The Pentagon asked Jones to refrain from burning Korans out of concern for the safety of NATO forces in Afghanistan because they know Rev. Jones couldn't care less about relations with the Muslim world and were hoping that he might have concern for the safety of US troops.

Jones, of course, cares only about exposing the hypocrisy of Muslim leaders in Iran and elsewhere; Muslim leaders who feel justified in killing and abusing Christians and burning churches, bibles and anything else pertaining to religions other than Islam.

While its hard to argue with Jones' motives, his tactics are distasteful, to say the least.

This is only a useless effort by a terrorist regime to pretend that it believes in a "faith" whereas their chief criminal Idol Khomeini said all Islamic principles and practices can be pushed aside to keep the regime in power. Whilst the wrong practice of Qoran burning would not drive any Moslem from their faith, this satanic clerical tyranny has driven millions of youths from "Islam" due to it inhuman and criminal practices.
